What will happen when I come to Sussex Medical Chambers? |
|
If this is the first time that you have come to visit us, the receptionist will ask you to fill out a registration form listing your name, address and date of birth. This information is kept strictly confidential and will not be used outside of The Chambers without your expressed permission. If you do not want us to contact you at your home address, please tell the receptionist. We strongly recommend that you give an address and telephone number, as it is sometimes necessary for us to contact you about your treatment. A private room is always available if you wish to speak to our receptionists privately.
We will ask for your GP’s name and address. If you do not want us to contact your GP please let the reception staff know. The receptionist will make a set of notes for you and will enter your details on a confidential computer system. You will be asked to take a seat in the waiting room, and your notes will be sent through to the doctors and staff in the clinic. You do not require a referral from your GP.
Seeing the doctor and other staff:
The doctor will call your name and they will discuss any problems or concerns you have and take details of your sexual history. If tests are necessary you will be asked to wait in the waiting room until the tests are carried out by a nurse or a doctor. You may also be asked to see a health adviser. Health advisers can give you information about sexual health or can offer support and advice on dealing with any worries or problems that you may have. After the tests you will be seen by the doctor once more to discuss your results and any treatment you may need. You may also be asked to return at a later date for further results.
Results & Follow up appointments:
Generally, some results will be ready in approx 1/2hr - others take 7-10 days. If you are not given an appointment or do not return for the results, we will contact you if we need to see you again.
Follow up appointments, (if required) are charged at £40.
If you change your address please let reception know your new address. If you wish we can give you results by telephone, mobile or email
