Botulinum Toxin

Botulinum toxin is a naturally occurring protein that has been used in the medical world for over 30 years. Facial lines occur by repeated use of the facial muscles and Botulinum toxin can be used to prevent lines developing, as well as treat existing lines. Injections are given into the muscles, temporarily ‘putting them to sleep’ for a period of 3 -4 months. This effect is temporary and muscle movement will then slowly return.

It can be used to treat and prevent- frown lines, crow’s feet, mouth lines and neck lines.

Dermal Fillers

As skin ages it looses collagen and fat. This causes the skin to sag and develop lines. The hyaluronic acid in the fillers is a non-animal based product which works in harmony with the body’s own hyaluronic acid to plump out, hydrate and smooth the skin. Injections are given by a very fine needle just under the skin. A dental block local anaesthetic is given to eliminate any discomfort. Fillers last between 6-9 months.

They can be used to treat- frown lines, crow’s feet, mouth lines, nasal lines (plump out the deep lines from nose to the corners of the mouth). They can also be used to plump out lips, from a subtle enhanced lip line to a fuller pout.

Hyperhydrosis

Nerves using a chemical messenger acetylcholine stimulate glands such as those responsible for sweat production. Botulinum toxin is injected into the sweat glands where it blocks the release of acetylcholine and therefore reduces sweat production. The effect may last for up to 3-6 months.

It can be used to treat- armpits, palms, and forehead areas.

Isolagen

This is the first facial rejuvenation therapy to utilize your own living cells. A small skin sample from behind your ear and sent to Isolagen’s state-of-the-art lab in London, where your collagen-producing fibroblast cells are grown. After 10-12 weeks your cells are ready for re-injecting, followed by a 2nd treatment 5-7 weeks later. Over the next 3-6 months your skin will start to look younger as the new collagen is produced. The results last up to 8 years. Because you are using your own cells there are no side effects from using foreign injectable or animal based products. It is 100% naturally you. You can also have your skin cells cryogenically frozen for treatment in the future, the cells will stay at the same age until needed for treatment.

Areas that can be treated are-

  • Face-crows feet, lip or nasal lines or whole face
  • Acne scarring- one of the few treatments that can improve acne scars

Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy is now used in the cosmetic field for skin rejuvenation, improving skin texture and reducing fine lines and also for localised fat reduction, including improving cellulite. Mesotherapy  works by replenishing damaged skin through micro-injections with a mixture of vitamins, minerals and hyaluronic acid, thereby improving skin blood circulation, tone, firmness and texture and super-hydrating the skin. Initially you may need one treatment every 2 weeks for 1-2 months then monthly for 3 months, then maintenance treatments every 3-6 months. On average most people need 6 initial treatments then maintenance treatments once or twice a year.

Treatment prices start from £100 for facial/skin rejuvenation and £150 for cellulite treatment

Sculptra

Sculptra is a deep dermal filler, used for sculpting and contouring the face. It has been used in plastic and reconstructive surgery for years. Sculptra is injected deep into the skin layer where it helps to stimulate new collagen production and plumps the skin from within. Normally 2 treatments are required and results are seen over 4-6 weeks and last up to 2 years. It is especially useful at treating fine lines and creases over the cheeks and also to lift droopy jowls and cheeks.

Glycolic peels

For a soother, brighter complexion, glycolic acid, derived from sugar cane, stimulates new skin growth by sloughing off the surface dead skin cells. This is a prescription only glycolic peel, licensed for physician use only. The skin needs to be prepared with home skin care mild glycolic acid products for 2 weeks before your first treatment. During the treatment the skin is painted with the peel, which is left on for 2 minutes and then washed off. You are able to go back to work straight after the treatment as the only effect may be slight rosy complexion. This is the perfect quick-fix skin brightener.
